Reading mode

A distraction-free reading view of your document — no panels, no toolbars.

The idea

A reading mode that strips away all editor UI — toolbars, panels, sidebars — and presents your document as clean, readable text. Optimized for reviewing a full draft or sharing a preview with someone who doesn't need editing access. Think of it as a print preview that's actually pleasant to read on screen.

Why it matters

The editor is built for writing. But reading your own work back benefits from a different view. When you're in editing mode, you're thinking about formatting and citations. In reading mode, you're thinking about flow, argument, and whether the paper makes sense as a whole. The context switch matters.

Where we are

This feature shipped. Reading mode (Cmd/Shift + .) gives your document a read-only, refined-typography view with the panels out of the way. Sources and PDFs open in a clean reader window too.
