Research happens in the browser — on arXiv, a journal page, a news story, a syllabus, a YouTube talk. Getting it into your library shouldn't mean copying a URL and switching tabs. So we put Folio in the toolbar. Save to Folio is now live on the Chrome Web Store.
Capture anything, in one click
- Click the toolbar icon on a paper, article, book, report, or video and it lands in your library with the metadata already filled in — title, authors, year, and the right source type.
- Right-click any link and choose "Save to Folio" to pull in its target without opening it.
- Press Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+F to save the current page silently.
- On Google Scholar, every result gets an inline + Folio button.
It reads standard citation tags, Schema.org data, and Open Graph metadata, so it recognizes far more than papers: news (saved as newspaper), books, government pages, YouTube, Medium, and general web pages. Anywhere a DOI appears, CrossRef fills in the rest.
Check AI citations before you trust them
The popup's Verify tab takes any block of text — a paragraph from ChatGPT or Gemini, a draft, a reference list — pulls out every citation, and checks each one against CrossRef. Real, worth-a-second-look, or fabricated. The classic "the AI invented a source" problem, caught in seconds.
Ask about a page before you save it
The Ask tab answers a question about the page you're reading using only the text on it — a fast, honest way to triage a paper before you commit to it.
Getting it
